Croeso & Welcome to Lleyn & Eifionydd Beekeepers' Association

Protecting the unique Welsh Black Bees of the Llŷn Peninsula, Eifionydd and surrounding areas. Supporting local beekeepers with resources, promoting treatment-free beekeeping, and safeguarding our native bees from imports for a thriving, resilient future.

Beekeeping on the Llŷn Peninsula
Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North West Wales, the Llŷn Peninsula stretches into the Irish Sea with a unique Gulf Stream–influenced microclimate. This special environment provides an ideal home for the Welsh Black Bee — our hardy, native honey bee.
At Lleyn & Eifionydd Beekeepers’ Association, we are proud to support local beekeepers and promote treatment-free beekeeping. Our bees have shown natural Varroa resistance, making them vital to sustainable beekeeping and conservation in Wales. By protecting this pure local strain and discouraging imports, we safeguard the future of honey bees on the Llŷn Peninsula and beyond.
